About the dashPunk "Open Source" Worlds
As a fan of Scifi and Fantasy, C. E. Dorsett is opening his worlds up to collaborations from artist, musicians, filmmakers, vidders, and storytellers of all stripes. These works are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License.
We chose the Non-Commercial-ShareAlike license to preserve a sense of Canon to the worlds, as well as to prevent large companies from profiting off our collective effort without compensating the content creators. If you wish to do a for profit project, click on the Join a Project, and contact us.
How is it Open Source?
Unlike similar project we have seen on the web, we are making available the Series Bibles and other World Building materials for use by the community. In other words, we are revealing the prose "Source Code" for each setting. Depending on how this project evolves over time, we may eventually drop the Non-commercial part of the license.
