Renter: At first I was excited about this Despicable Me but the trailers got old fast. There are also several yellow flags with this project that make me cautious about watching this film. Steve Carell is funny I really like him in the office but I have not cared for his other projects, universal studios animation project which tend to be ok and the incessant need to use 3d as a gimmick to force me into watching it in the theater and I can wait.

(Wikipedia) (official site)
Theater: I'm an old school fan of the Predator movies not so much of a fan of all the recent attempts at reboots. That said this one looks descent they kept the jungle feel.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice:
Release Date: July 16
Listed as: Sorcery, Fantasy, Adventure , Comedy film

The Plot / Story: A live-action re-imagining of the Mickey Mouse Sorcerer’s Apprentice segment in Disney’s Fantasia. An average college student is reluctantly recruited to work for a sorcerer, who gives him a crash course in magic to prepare him for a battle against the forces of darkness in modern Manhattan. (Wikipedia) (The Official Site)
Not Interested: This project spits on the memory of Walt Disney. He loved Fantasia, cherished it as his greatest achievement of merging music and visuals. To turn part of it into a simple movie with cheep tricks and borrowed plot line from other contemporary movies is a horrible thing and I want no part of it.
Inception:

Listed as: sci-fi, action, thriller
Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures
Director: Christopher Nolan
Produced by: Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas
Written by: Christopher Nolan

Cobb's rare ability has made him valuable in corporate espionage. In one last job, he must cause an "inception" – instead of stealing an idea, he must plant one. Christopher Nolan, the director of the movie, was quoted as saying "We don't do magic. Everything in Inception has a basis in reality, except for the technology". (Wikipedia) (The Official Site)
Not Interested: Premise is weak, the trailer boring and worst yet Christopher Nolan is all over this project. He is a big red flag in any project.
Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore:

Diggs, a police dog, and his mentor, Butch, are selected by the Dogs HQ spy force to stop her. The cats join forces with with the dogs and get additional support from the birds to block Galore's scheme. Galore, meanwhile, has the help of the mice and hires the devious cat and antagonist from the first film, Mr. Tinkles. (Wikipedia) (The Official Site)
Theater / Renter: this is probably a renter for me but as previously confessed in My Dirty Secret Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore I'm a sucker for this movie. The first in the series was really entertaining and funny. Based on the trailers and promotional materials it looks like the second one has not lost that flavor.
This is an amazing incite full video exploring how Twilight works. Thanks very much for Epipheo Studios who wrote and produced the video. watch the video above.
The breakdown is quite simple and follows this formula: Lego + Super Guy = infatuation
Bella is the Lego, an every girl designed to be generic and perfectly identifiable by many.
Edward is the Super Guy given great detail and represents what every woman wants in a guy times 10,000.
I finally rented Twilight. It is a horrible move. It can be summed up as awkward, boring, and the worst portrayal of vampires I have ever watched.
If only the project didn't take it's self seriously then Twilight might have made a mildly entertaining vampire spoof movie but unfortunately that was not the intent.
Sadly, seeing Twilight was NOT the thrill of a lifetime. In fact, if I didn’t love the books so much, I doubt if I would have stayed.
The screen writing, or the way the high school students were directed (I can’t tell which) was very Disney sit-com style. I can’t blame the whole cast for this, I just think the styling and direction were lacking somehow. It was almost like they focused only on Bella and Edward and the rest of the cast was an afterthought. Even the scenes where Bella wasn’t with Edward seemed phoned in.
Overall, this flick will be a must see for all teen girls in love with Edward. It finally gives them a face to fall in love with. As for fans not in love with Robert Pattinson, we’ll have to hope the wolves help pull the second film out of the High School Musical demographic.
Twilight will hit theaters Friday November 21, 2008 and unlike many out there I’m not eager to see it.
I started out with mixed emotions over this movie the initial trailer was not that exciting. After watching the Twilight Final Trailer I got a little more excited about this project but mainly because of the vampire element in it. After all I'm a sucker for vampires. The official site looks nice and loads quickly for a movie site.
Then I learned about all of the emo mentality that infused the characters and their perspective and was totally turned off. Sparkeling vampires in the light... wtf.
Twilight is based on the book Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1). I tried to read the book and could not even make it past the beginning part it was horrible. Not very promising for the movie.
This is not even a renter for me.
Let me know what you think. Will you go to see Twilight in the theater or rent it? If you have seen it in the theater should I go see it and why?
Destination Truth: Season 1: This show is awesome, Josh Gates does a wonderful job taking us on an adventure all over the world. IN season one we go hunting for a mermaid like sea creature, the Chupacabra, has an amazing Bigfoot sighting, the Tokoloshe, werewolves, and visits a haunted village.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon: Even though I don't care to watch this movie like the first one I have added both to the rental que. That said I'm actually more interested in the the second Twilight movie just because Christopher Heyerdahl is in it. Even the studios don't think so high of the movie. They have released it at the marked down price of $16.99 rather then the $20 range that is typical of the double disc releases.
Theater or Renter: November includes eight SF movies 1/2 of them are books adapted into movies: A Christmas Carol, The Fourth Kind, 2012, Planet 51, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Ninja Assassin, The Road. Will we watch? Will we rent? or do we even care?

A writer plans to sue Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, accusing her of plagiarizing her by lifting passages from an obscure book she wrote called The Nocturne and using them in her vampire romance Breaking Dawn (SCI FI Wire)
I don't know if there is any truth to the allegations, but my biggest question is WHY?
It is no secret that I am not a fan of Stephenie Meyer. I don't like her style, and could not finish Twilight because of it. I know a lot of readers that feel the same way as I do. Why would you want to associate your name with Stephenie Meyer except to try to get the attention of Twilight reader? There are 2 big PR problems with this.
Twilight fans are rabid and will attack The Nocturne and author Jordan Scott
Non-Twilight fans will categorize Jordan Scott with an author they don't like
The only hope Scott has is that she will win her case and get some money out of it, otherwise she has simply hurt her career.
It's no secret that I am not a fan of Twilight and that I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so when you can imagine the glee I felt when I saw this video of Buffy slaying Edward. Well edited and funny, this is a great fan edit!
Sword Masters: The Duel of the Century: a Shaw Brothers film. Liu Yung and Sun Chien team to investigate the martial-art murders of a supposedly mortally wounded swordsman, only to find deception, death, double-dealings, imposters and one deadly duel after another. I’m very curious about this film it makes me think of The Duel which rocked, plus it’s a Shaw Brothers film which any wuxia fan can appreciate.
Ghost Hunters: Season 4, Pt. 2: they travel from a sanitarium which has placed 911 calls to the police -- but there is no phone in the building! -- to the most haunted ship in the U.S. Navy. Then go to a tavern in a TAPS member's own hometown where customers are heard enjoying a game of pool but the hall is closed and empty, and a home where a small child hears voices and has unexplainable scratches on his body. TAPS even goes to the plantation seen in "Interview with a Vampire" where 35 tourists all witnessed the same paranormal activity at the same instant!
Twilight: I will probably rent this one I love vampire movies but i’m concerned about this one. Read the full review here Twilight - The Movie.
Punisher: War Zone: I doubt that I will see this movie. I like Punisher and would love to see a good Punisher movie but I have little hope that this will be one. Read the full review here Punisher: War Zone Review.
