Joss Whedon Selected for the Vanguard Award
“Joss Whedon has mastered the art of melding the newest technology with inspired storytelling, truly exemplifying the spirit of the Vanguard Award,” said David Friendly and Laurence Mark, co-chairs of the PGA Awards.
It's great that the Producers Guild of America is recognizing Joss Whedon's achivements. Creator of great shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Dollhouse and Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog. I can't wait to see his next project.
Hopefully from Joss' great experience with Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog the next project will be another independent project.

Joss Whedon Directing An Episode of Glee
Joss Whedon has agreed to direct one of the back nine episodes that Fox just ordered. -EW
This comes as bitter-sweet news since Fox will be canceling Dollhouse.
Sweet
Joss is a big fan of Glee which comes as no big surprise for several reasons.
- The show rocks!
- The music is great
- The messages behind the story is both challenging and edifying
I’m stoked to find Joss is directing an episode. He is brilliant director who also shares in a passion for music. His episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Once More, with Feeling
Bitter
The bitter part of this news is that it comes out on the back of Fox’s announcement of canceling Dollhouse. I have been silent so far on this subject because I feel a long string of expletives wont solve any thing.
If Fox thinks this move will appease the fans for all of the BS over Dollhouse then they are more foolish then originally believed. There is a coming storm but Fox will find it a quiet one. Fox doesn’t respect Joss, they don’t respect the fans and so I will not support them. They are lucky that Glee is over there it’s the last Fox show I watch. They should thanks their lucky stars that they didn’t cancel Glee like they originally wanted to before it got a chance to air.
On the plus side Joss is free of them once again and I hope that he goes independent with Dollhouse or at least with his next project. I can’t wait for Doctor Horrible 2 and other projects out of Joss Whedon Digital Studio.

MegaBot- AKA Topher the Power Ranger
This show is not safe for work!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if 5 high school friends discovered power suits, were forced to leave their dreams behind, and had to fight cosmic super villains while struggling with racism, promiscuity, and alcoholism? Then you must check out MegaBot at Atom.
Fran Kranz (Topher from Dollhouse) stars in this funny send up of the super team genre.
Megabot, Ep. 1
Megabot, Ep. 2
Funny. Irreverent. My only problem with the series is that it is on Atom.com who does not offer any options to subscribe to the series so you know why new episodes are out.
What do you thing?

Series (TV / Web) SF TV Series To Watch This Fall
With so many Speculative Fiction shows and new shows coming out this fall I thought I could help sort them all out.
Currently Airing
- Eureka (Syfy): A fun sci-fi show. Love it, watch it on Hulu
- Ghost Hunters (Syfy): Fascinating exploration of U.S. ghost stories and haunting investigation. Love it watch it on Hulu
- Warehouse 13 (Syfy): A fun sci-fi show that adds a dash of paranormal into it. Love it, watch it on Hulu
SEPTEMBER 9
- Glee (FOX): loved the pilot, a nice feel good musical tale with a dash of fantasy.
- Destination Truth (Syfy): Loved the previous seasons can’t wait to see what Josh and the gang get into this season. Hopefully nothing from Chernobyl bit Josh.
SEPTEMBER 10
- The Vampire Diaries (CW): A vampire is in it so I have to check it out but I don’t have much hope. I realize it is not a Twilight clone (I have been schooled on that subject, lol) yet I can only hope that it is way better then Twilight.
- Supernatural (CW): I’m a sucker for a paranormal show involving demon hunters so this is on my check out list because I also realize there are a lot of bad ones out there as well.
SEPTEMBER 22
- The Forgotten (ABC): I don’t have much hope for this show, mainly I’m concerned this will turn out to be yet another show for people who don’t like sci-fi to watch.
SEPTEMBER 23
- Eastwick (ABC): The trailers looks really good, they captured the essence of the movie so well in the promotional material I’m looking forward to watching it.
SEPTEMBER 25
- Dollhouse (FOX): Season one rocked!!! A must see
- Smallville (CW): I could appreciate the concept behind Smallville but until this season just didn’t care enough bout the show to want to watch it but with Callum Blue joining the cast this year I think I may start watching it.
SEPTEMBER 27
- The Simpsons (FOX): If you don’t know then I’m at a loss for words.
OCTOBER 2
- Stargate Universe (Syfy): I started out not caring much about this show, but as more came out and especially the latest trailers I’m excited to watch it.
- Clone Wars: Rise of the Bounty Hunters (Cartoon): Season two of George Lucas' animated Star Wars tales covering the era of the Clone Wars. The animation style is a unique style that has been difficult for some to get into but worth it. The story is really good though lighter because the show is marketed more towards a kid audience I have hope that the second season will get better.
OCTOBER 9
- Ugly Betty (ABC): What an amazing retelling of the classic fantasy tale
- Sanctuary (Syfy): The original web series was good. The first season was awesome so of course I’m looking forward to season two.
NOVEMBER 3
- V (ABC): I enjoyed growing up with the original show V and it is one that could use a retelling, plus Morena Baccarin.
November 7
- Legend of the Seeker (syndication): Season one was so good I can’t wait to see how season two unfolds.
I find it interesting that all of the speculative fiction programming out there are on either sy-fy, Fox, CW, or ABC.
DVD Releases: July 28, 2009
Out this week we have seven DVDs to feature: Dollhouse: Season One, Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead, Torchwood: Children of Earth, Knight Rider, Green Lantern: First Flight, Dragonball: Evolution, Battlestar Galactica: Season 4.5.

Netflix lets you rent, watch and return DVDs from home - Try free for 2 weeks
- Dollhouse: Season One
: This is a great show, Joss Whedon does it again. It received mixed view based on the first few episodes which are not the best but that is due to Fox forcing rewrites and re-shoots on Joss' vision. The fans have lovingly come to refer to those episodes as Fox's Dollhouse and the rest of the show as Joss' Dollhouse. After about episode five this show really opens up and develops. This set includes the original pilot episode plus the episode Epitaph One. A must own!

- Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead
: a special episode of David Tennant Doctor Who when the Doctor and his fellow passengers are mysteriously transported through a wormhole to a planet inhabited by an endangered anthropomorphic species. It's on the top of my Netflix que if not an owner unseen.
- Torchwood: Children of Earth
: I love this series, this is a five episode mini-series picking up for season three of Torchwood. It's on the top of my Netflix que if not an owner unseen.
- Knight Rider
: This was a light, fun show with fast changing cars and action. It started with some promise of having substance with gay characters and interesting subplots it just unfortunately suffered from too much studio tampering and test audience death and lost it's substance. Watch it here on Hulu.
- Green Lantern: First Flight
: another DC Comics animated project bringing us the Hal Jordan Green Lantern. It's on the top of my Net Flix que and almost an owner unwatched because of how good the past animated DC projects are.
- Dragonball: Evolution
: a fun Dragonball movie, a lot of reviews trashed this movie but they missed the point and that is Dragonball is a niche film and made for fans of Dragonball. If your not sure about the Dragonball series then it should be a renter, for fans an owner.
- Review: Dragonball: Evolution
- For more info and Trailer read Theater or Renter April 2009
- Battlestar Galactica: Season 4.5
: The conclusion of season four and the Battlestar Galactica show. I really liked how this show grew into it's own and tackled some interesting topics. I wished it had been bolder with some of the social and philosophical topics addressed. My issue with this product is it's an overpriced 1/2 of a season set.
